…classic write up by Roger Lavallee, whom we all have a lot of respect for, both as a producer and musician.

I exercised some of my producing skills on this take of ‘Dolls Clearwing Moth’. I found the original needing some additional compression/limiting/saturation…. I also chopped it down by a minute. I think this song is interesting in being somewhat of a mashup between Janes Addiction and Rage Against the Machine.

me (drums), Mike (bass), Steve (vocals), Al (guitar) – ‘99

This song was included on East Coast Audio Entertainments Compilation CD. I think that was such a great thing for us local bands to have. Much appreciation to Eric Godin for being thoughtful in starting up and leading such an organization. Thanks Eric, and continued best wishes for the Lucky Dog!

I hope to have more Woodgrain posted on here soon…check this out in the meantime. Woodgrain also has a 2nd album archived somewhere of post – Dolls Clearwing Moth. We never finished or released it, but it represented what I considered 2nd phase Woodgrain Theory which was less jazzy on the drums part of it. Whereas our debut, ‘Sounds of Perception’ was more pyschodelic and jazzy. 2nd phase Woodgrain is what we were playing when we opened up for bands like Godsmack and 24/7 Spies and any other good act coming thru town. Eric was good to us in that way.
